WORKSHOP: Climate Income and Redirecting Financial Flows

You’re invited to watch our Earth month workshop on Climate Income and Redirecting Financial Flows. Join us and find out how we can move money away from fossil fuels and towards creating a healthier, fairer world for everyone.

Speakers: Megan Waters, FAIRR; Jeroom Remmers, TAPP: Zitouni Ould-Dada, FAO; Jarl Krausings, CONCITO; Danielle Nierenberg, Food Tank; Ertharin Cousin, Food Systems for the Future; Gunhild Stordalen, EAT; Geeta Sethi, World Bank; Hamid Hamirani, FSF; Holly Freishtat, Milken Inst.

Notes: Roughly 1/3 of GHGs originate from the food sector, a figure inclusive of fossil fuel contributions with an estimated to cost the global economy 10% of its GDP annually. These costs primarily stem from adverse impacts on human health, food wastage, water pollution, and climate effects. Emphasized was the urgent need for significantly higher carbon pricing. The Good Food Finance Facility will start operations in 2024 as a global co-investment platform for food systems transformation.

We broadcasted live from COP 28 just past the midpoint. Special guest was Lucas Snaije from the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty. Other guests included: Dr. Sanjiv Mathur health and climate change Canada cap emissions; Kohei Noda from Citizens’ Climate Lobby Japan; and Alba Pena, youth climate activist from Mexico. It concluded with Q&A from the audience.

In preparation for COP 28, on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 we hosted our third Global Talanoa Dialogues. This time we focused on redirecting financial flows. In a series of short videos, our leaders from across the globe shared their passionate conversations about shifting money in a way that makes our planet prosperous and fair for everyone using the Talanoa Dialogue method. We are grateful for all that they taught us. You are encouraged to watch the dialogues in their entirety.
